How can I get a Nepal Visa?

You can get visas when you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport. To make things easier and avoid waiting in long lines at Immigration, fill out the Online Nepal Visa form a week before you arrive. This makes your entry to Nepal easier. Please bring a printed copy of the form you filled out, with the proof number and details. This number will help you skip the long line at Immigration, making your entry faster. Also, make sure to have enough cash for the visa fee when you arrive at the airport. The cost of the visa depends on how long you stay and how many times you enter.

Itinerary

 

Day 1:  Kathmandu (1300) -Kerung Border (145 Km) 06-07 hours’ drive

Early in the morning scenic drive to Kerung Border (Nepal-Tibet Border) through the beautiful Nepalese countryside and after necessary border formalities at Nepalese immigration, an hour adventurous uphill drive by Bus & Van (normally) or 2 hour walks uphill (in case of landslide to Chinese immigration, check-in to hotel or Continue drive to Kerung.

Stay overnight at Guest House.

Day 2:  Kerung – Tingri (4300m) / Lhatse (4,350m): 225 Km/244 Km

Day drive uphill to the highest plateau of the world with the typical view of the Tibetan landscape offering the sheer feeling of standing on the roof of the world. from where weather permitting, breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan ranges including Mt Cho Oyu (8201 M) & Mt Xishapagma (8012M) but dwarfed by the Vastness of the Tibetan plateau. From TINGRI, one can enjoy the magnificence of Mt. Everest (8,848 M).

Day 3: Tingri/Lhaste – Xigatse (3,900 M): 244 Km

Continue scenic drive crossing Over Gyatchu La (5,220M), the highest pass en route to Lhasa via Lhatse from where a road to Mt Kailash bifurcates to the west.

Stay overnight at the Yak Hotel.

Day 4: Xigatse – Gyantse (3,950m) – Lhasa

Morning sightseeing at the Panchen Lama’s Tashilhumpu Monastery. Drive to Gyantse and visit to the Kumbum Stupa & Phalkor Monastery. Full-day picturesque drive crossing over Karola (5,010m), Kambala (4,749m), Colorful Yamdrok-Tso Lake, and the Tibetan lifeline river Brahma Putra (Yarlung Tsangpo).

Stay overnight at the Flora Hotel.

Day 5: Sightseeing In Lhasa

After breakfast commence on a full day sightseeing tour of Lhasa City. Today is the day we visit the beautiful Potala, Norbulingka Palaces & Jokhang Temple. Built-in the 17th century, Potala Palace provides amazing views of the entire city and houses the private quarters of the Dalai Lama, numerous grand state rooms, and chapels. Norbulingka Palace is the summer palace of the Dalai Lama and houses what is considered to be the largest man-made garden in Tibet.

Next, we visit the Tibet Museum, the official museum of Tibet, which has a permanent collection of around 1000 artifacts related to the cultural history of Tibet. Jokhang Temple is another important sacred site that unravels more deep-seated mysteries of Tibetan Buddhism.

Day 6: Full-day Lhasa

After breakfast, we visit Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery, and Barkhor Bazaar. Drepung Monastery, which was built in the 14th century, is believed to have sheltered around 10,000 monks in the past but as of now, there has been quite a decline resulting in only a few hundred. The history, culture, and religious beliefs of the Tibetan people are strongly concentrated and centered in this marvelous monastery.

Sera Monastery is a preserved monastery with white-washed walls and golden roofs. We further stroll through Barkhor Bazaar (market). With its open-air stalls, shops, and crowd of pilgrims, it is the nerve center of Lhasa.

Day 7: Lhasa – Xegar (4300m) 490km

Early morning drive to Xegar.

Overnight at Guest House.

Day 8: Xegar to Kerong Border to Kathmandu 395km

Early morning, Drive to the Border, cross the border. Drive back to Kathmandu. Drop at your hotel in Kathmandu.
