Day 1: Arrival in Paro, Transfer to Thimphu & Sightseeing
As you land in Paro via a scenic Druk Air flight, relish the breathtaking views of mountains and landscapes. Bhutan boasts direct flights from Kathmandu, Bangkok, and Delhi, ensuring easy accessibility. Following the completion of necessary visa formalities, our warm representative will greet you, commencing your enjoyable 54-kilometer journey (approximately 1.5 hours) to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan.
En route, seize the opportunity to visit the historic Tachogang Lhakhang Bridge, a 600-year-old iron bridge with cultural significance. Upon reaching Thimphu, check in at the hotel and indulge in a delightful lunch.
The afternoon unfolds with an exciting Thimphu sightseeing tour, exploring iconic landmarks. Marvel at the majestic Buddha Statue – Great Buddha Dordenma, offering serene views, and delve into the architectural marvel of Tashicho Dzong, the governmental and religious seat of Bhutan. Day 2: Drive to Paro, Takshang Monastery Hike & Night View
After a fulfilling breakfast, embark on a scenic drive from Thimphu to Paro. The highlight of the day is the exhilarating hike to Takshang Monastery, famously known as the “Tiger’s Nest.” This 3 to 4-hour uphill trek through enchanting pine forests leads to the monastery perched dramatically on a granite cliff, 800 meters above the Paro valley. Legend has it that in the 7th century, the revered saint Padmasambhava arrived on a flying tigress, meditating here for three months, subduing demons and converting the valley to Buddhism.
On the way back, visit Kichu Lakhang, an ancient and revered temple in Paro. In the evening, if interested, enjoy a captivating night view of Paro Dzong and Ringpung Dzong, witnessing their enchanting ambiance from a distance.
